Little Piggy Eggs

Little Piggy Eggs

yield: 2 servings  •  prep time: 10 minutes (not including time to boil eggs)


4 hard-boiled eggs, peeled

No Sugar Hot Dogs

8 black peppercorns

Fine sea salt




  1. Cut a small slice off the bottom of each egg to keep it from rolling, then place the eggs on a plate.
  2. Cut the hot dog into 1/8-inch-thick slices. Cut 8 triangles that are about ½ inch long for the ears. Set aside.
  3. Cut a toothpick into fourths. Insert one-quarter of the toothpick into the tip of each egg, leaving a little of the toothpick exposed.
  4. Push a hot dog slice onto each toothpick for the pig’s nose. Place 2 peppercorns above the nose on each egg for the eyes.
  5. Use a sharp knife to make 2 slits in each egg where the ears would be (a little above and outside the eyes). Push the hot dog triangles into the ear slits. Season the egg bodies with salt and serve.
  6. Store extras in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
