Seems pretty basic, right? After all, it is something that you have done your whole life, right? Walk in, 16 hours later, walk out, and you don’t even know what you got. Grocery stores are like Disney World to me. So many things to look at. But the problem is, I want so much yet need so little. So, over the years, I have developed a way to grocery shop efficiently and healthy!
Duh. Pretty Obvious Huh?
If you fail to plan, you plan to fail. Have a list, think about what you need, write it down, and, most importantly, don’t forget your list in the car! Or, get an app. My favorite is ‘Free Shopping List Ease- Grocery List + Coupons.’ It is pretty simple and helpful. Bonus: You can share your list!!
Keep It Simple & Short. Stick to simple products. Keep the ingredient list short. Also, set a designated amount of time for grocery shopping. I normally give myself 20 minutes, but I try to beat it. The longer I give myself, the more I will wander, and that means I will get things I do not need.
This is a well known one but so true. Have you ever shopped hungry? I have, and I tend to reach for products I can eat as soon as I leave the store. For me, those products tend to be candy, Twizzlers being my fave!
[INSERT: Just not Your Simple Grocer Box, because Hello! It's amazing!] “Why avoid boxes,” you ask? What tends to come in boxes don’t tend to be healthy (Pop Tarts, Oreos, Lucky Charms, Cheez-its). Now, I never said they weren’t delicious, but they have no nutritional value and do nothing for your body. Fuel your body with delicious food; don’t weigh it down with empty food. Real people need real food.
That’s where boxes tend to hang out. Exception: The aisle the oil, vinegar, and seasonings are on! Basically, just shop the perimeter of the store!
